New Marlborough Village Association

Announces Winter House Concert lineup for 2020

The New Marlborough Village Association will present the first of two Winter House concerts on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 4. This concert features a return of our own local concert pianist, Manon Hutton-DeWys.  She will play and discuss mid-19th century Romantic music for piano by Brahms and Liszt, as well as by two prominent female composers of the time, Clara Schumann and Fanny (Mendelssohn) Hensel.  Manon carries on a busy career at Bard College of Simons Rock as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and Professor of Applied Piano.

The second concert of the series on Sunday, February 23, will be played by the formidable harpist, Emmanuel Ceysson. Emmanuel, principal harpist at the Metropolitan Opera, was to have played on the Music and More series last September but suffered an injury, so we are delighted that he will be able to entertain us in February. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CONCERT WILL START AT 3:00 p.m. INSTEAD OF THE USUAL 4:00 p.m..  This may be the last chance to hear Emmanuel in a concert recital in our area.  He has accepted the position of principal harpist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, starting next September.
